When we moved into our apartment – over a year ago, now – the owners of the building had installed new, unpainted and unpolished-metal doors on every apartment. The building is pre-war and grungy with thick layers of paint on the walls and crumbling molding, terrible signs on the walls, and deteriorating linoleum floor-tiles. The metal doors seemed to tone down the ugliness and give me hope for the future of the building – aesthetic was was quite nice.
Half a year later, inexplicably, I come home to my apartment building and every metal door had been painted a dark, soul-swallowing, grung-perpetuating shade of brown. All hope I had for what could become of our new apartment building was covered-up and forgotten by a single coat of diarrhea brown. So I messed around in illustrator, using Google’s Serif-Droid font, and came up with something cheery I could look at instead of focusing on the grossness of our doors.
